Santa Cruz de Tenerife heats up for its June Carnival. Its mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, has announced that, once the Governing Council authorizes this Thursday the end of the restrictions due to Covid-19, the town hall is put “in preparation mode” to recover the most important party on the Island after a year of hiatus due to the pandemic.
José Manuel Bermúdez, in statements to the media, has detailed that in June there will be galas, competitions and a street festival that will be held for at least one weekend.
Bermúdez has indicated that the decision to transfer this party in june “It seems right”, although celebrating it during this month is “more complex and entails more difficulties” for suppliers, who have more work.
For this reason, “at least” the street festival will last a weekend, the mayor has added, who has opined that the end of the restrictions is “great news”.

This will mean that the capital’s May festivities can also be celebrated with a magician’s dance “without capacity or restrictions” and in which “you want to wear a mask, you will wear it”.
There will also be concerts in the Plaza de La Candelaria, the gala for the election of the queen of the May festivities, as well as concerts and a flower exhibition in the García Sanabria park.
From now on, a program of street activities can also be developed to help recover the economy, he added.
