They dismantle a network dedicated to illegal evictions of squats in the Canary Islands, Alicante and Valencia

The Civil Guardwithin the framework of the ‘Savita’ operation, has arrested a man and a woman, aged 36 and 30, and is investigating three others by alleged commission of irregular evictions in homes by a security company in the provinces of Alicante and Valencia and in La Orotava (Tenerife).

The investigation has determined that in the three cases the way of proceeding was coincident since in el “express eviction” of the three houses a false occupation by the same person was simulated who, in turn, pretended to be deceived by the residents, who allegedly sold him the keys to the house.

The operation has been carried out by the Investigation Area of Vila Joiosa (Alicante), with the collaboration of the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of the Barcelona Command, the Investigation Area of the Civil Guard post in Granadilla de Abona (Tenerife) and the Research Area of the Civil Guard Post in Arroyomolinos (Madrid).

The detainees have been released after taking statements at police headquarters. The proceedings for the facts investigated have been made available to the Investigating Court 1 of La Vila, as reported by the armed institute in a statement.

The Civil Guard took charge of the investigation in August 2021 after learning that in a house in La Vila an ‘antiokupa’ door had been installed for a person who had an old rental contract. The agents learned that between the tenant and the owner of the house there was a conflict motivated by the validity of that contract.

anti-occupancy door

Apparently, the legitimate resident, upon arriving at her home, found a door specially installed to prevent illegal occupations. The first inquiries related these events to a security company specializing in the eviction of illegally occupied homes.

The owner stated that he hired an eviction mediation company but that, upon arriving at the address, he found a person other than the tenant. For her part, this woman stated that the resident had allegedly sold her the keys to the house and had assured her that it was owned by the bank.

Once the man proved that he was the owner of the house, he signed a private contract in which the alleged ‘squatter’ voluntarily agreed to abandon the property.

However, from the investigations carried out, similarities were observed between this event that occurred in La Vila and another in Orotava (Tenerife), in June 2021. On this occasion, between the owner of the home and the alleged ‘squatter’, who It was the same as in the property in the town of Alicante, there was also a private document that agreed to the voluntary and express abandonment of the property.

This situation set off the alarms of the Civil Guard, since the format of the document signed between individuals coincided with that of Alicante and the name of the alleged squat appeared edited on a computer -a striking fact given that the identity of the person was allegedly unknown who had occupied the property.

third occupation

Likewise, another identical situation occurred in a house in Sagunto, in which the raid was carried out by the same woman who was part of the previous actions under investigation.

In this case, with the connivance of the owners, the mediator company carried out surveillance of the properties in order to take advantage of the absence of the tenants. As these were not found in the house, the company entered the interior and proceeded to the false occupation and subsequent eviction and recorded what happened by signing an alleged agreement between individuals.

Once the investigations were completed, on February 21, in Arroyomolinos The 30-year-old woman who allegedly occupied the houses was arrested. and to which the crimes of belonging to a criminal group, coercion, false denunciation and against the inviolability of the home are imputed.

On the same day, the investigation of the owner of the house in Tenerife, a 37-year-old Spanish woman who is accused of a crime against the inviolability of the home and another of coercion.

It was also proceeded to investigation of the owner of the house in La Vila, 69 years oldwho is charged with the crime of false reporting, against the inviolability of the home and coercion.

In addition, on February 22, also in Arroyomolinos, it was opened investigation to a worker of the company specialized in evictionsa 37-year-old man, charged with the crime of belonging to a criminal group, coercion and against the inviolability of the home.

Finally, on February 23, he stopped in Barcelona to owner of the investigated company, a 36-year-old man charged with the crimes of belonging to a criminal group, coercion and breaking and entering.
