SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 24. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The spokesman for the Gomera Socialist Group (ASG), Casimiro Curbelo, defended this Thursday that the Government “does not abandon” the productive sectors as many direct aids are being prepared and work is also being done to diversify the economy and promote the internationalization of the islands.

On the last day of the ‘Debate on the State of Nationality’, he warned of the increase in cost overruns due to double insularity, but he believes that “an opportunity” is now opening up to adjust fuel taxation on the ‘green islands’.

Along these lines, he has also requested that budgetary flexibility be maintained so as not to lower the IGIC, which would detract some 350 million in income, of which 200 million would directly affect local corporations.

Regarding immigration, he has valued that in the Senate a motion has been approved at the initiative of ASG to modify the law of reception of unaccompanied migrant minors given that it is “unfair” that the Canary Islands have almost 3,000 under their guardianship.

He has said that the pending funds for the road agreement must be closed and the REF and Western Sahara well supported, he has requested a “diplomatic effort” so that the Saharawis can hold a referendum and that the Canary Islands institutions be informed of the agreements .

The deputy Melodie Mendoza has commented that it is “fundamental” to maintain political unity around the reconstruction of La Palma and “hand in hand” with those affected and has called for an agreement to end temporary employment in public administration.

He has requested members of the Canarian Police on all the islands, as well as air and land resources for emergencies, and has stressed that work must be done to increase places from zero to three years, reach educational spending of 5% of GDP and more economic funds for universities.

In health, he has insisted that there be specialists in all non-capital islands and review diets in case of patient travel and reinforce Primary Care.

The deputy Jesús Ramos has commented that social policies “are essential” but also economic ones, claiming that they be carried out hand in hand with councils and city councils because it improves the efficiency of projects.

He has requested the recovery of the internal maritime line in La Gomera, the improvement of the PSOs on the islands and a possible maritime connection in the ‘green islands’, the adaptation of active employment policies and maintaining aid for SMEs and the self-employed.

Likewise, he pointed out that it is necessary to increase food sovereignty, modify the REA to avoid the hoarding of fodder, increase the additional Posei and give direct aid to the primary sector to cover the rise in fuel.
