The Santa Cruz City Council is working to prevent situations like the ones being experienced with the current winner of the security service from recurring, accelerating a framework contract with which to replace the company if non-compliance continues. And it is that, once again, the workers are the main victims of the company’s apparent lack of diligence, whose payroll is repeatedly delayed. The workers accuse the City Council of not paying the company in a timely manner, something that is denied by the Consistory, from which it is assured that it cannot pay, despite the fact that it has the money already released and with payment instructions, as long as there is debts with Social Security by the company.

The breaches in the payment of payroll were accredited in a report issued on March 7, which led to the initiation of the corresponding file for the imposition of sanctions. In parallel, the City Council has met with the company to demand that it correct the situation, and with the Social Security Treasury to lift the embargo and allow the Town Hall to pay the last two invoices.

Councilor for Organisation, Alfonso Hair, pointed out yesterday that the City Council “will be inflexible and forceful when it comes to sanctioning the breaches of the companies that provide services to the City Council”, and insisted that it will not let “one more breach” pass and that it will not ” tremble the pulse” if it were necessary to terminate the contract. Hence, the preparatory work for the bidding of a new Framework Agreement that allows for contractual coverage in the event of a hypothetical early resolution of the current one, as a result of these breaches, is being accelerated.
