The Education and Youth budget of the Cabildo de Tenerife grows by 9.2% to 15.8 million

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 23. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The budgets of the Education and Youth area of ​​the Cabildo de Tenerife reach 15,869,800 euros in 2022, a figure that represents an increase of 9.27% ​​compared to last year, the island councilor, Concepción, pointed out this Wednesday at a press conference. Rivero, and the island director, Isabel Bello.

Rivero stressed that “61 out of every 100 euros of the area’s accounts will be dedicated to study aid, the objective is that any student on the island can be trained and the level of income of him or his family is not an obstacle”.

To this he adds that “the item dedicated to scholarships is 9,690,759, which represents an increase of 21.4% compared to last year, aimed at ensuring that there are no reserve lists, that all students who meet the requirements consigned in the bases of the scholarships can benefit from them”.

Isabel Bello broke down the remittance of subsidies and explained that aid for university studies is the largest with 4,487,702 euros, which includes calls for Excellence, General Competition, Erasmus, Academic Achievement and Transportation, while the commitment to linguistic immersion for high school students, to which 2,510,318 euros are dedicated, a budget that has also been increased to, in addition, diversify the offer of modalities, a novelty that has been introduced this year.

The island director also indicated that “this year the Education and Youth area continues to focus on training through, mainly, the Tenerife Youth Includes School, which has a wide range of training, and the Closing the Digital Gap program dedicated to acquiring of digital skills necessary to manage on a day-to-day basis, from the most basic levels to the most advanced, intended for the adult population in general”.

Another of the major projects in the area of ​​Education and Youth is ‘PONOS’, aimed at unemployed young people between 16 and 35 years of age, for whom a personalized advice, training, insertion and support service is created, with the purpose of facilitating their hiring through labor insertion scholarships.

Isabel Bello also stressed that throughout 2022 a new Youth House will be built in Santiago del Teide and Icod de Los Vinos and that the one in Vilaflor de Chasna will be put into service before summer.

These centers will serve as training, meeting and youth dynamization points, as is done in the other 27 houses that exist throughout the island’s geography.
