SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 23. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The spokeswoman for the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Nayra Alemán, stated in her speech at the Debate on the State of Canarian Nationality that one year after the last Debate and two years since the start of the pandemic, “we have achieved in the country and especially in the Canary Islands, with policies, always with policies, to transform what could have been a dramatic situation into an opportunity to transform the country and the community”.

The socialist deputy highlighted in her speech that not only “has the health crisis been overcome; the economic shock and its consequences have been overcome and we look to the near future with the responsibility of knowing that we cannot miss the train of sustainable transformation and qualified”. “Cohesion and stability make us gain ground over uncertainty,” she added.

Nayra Alemán stressed that the 2019 government program, with all the setbacks and certainties, “is the Government’s guide and of course with the unequivocal compliance of the Canary Islands Agency for Sustainable Development presented last December, a document of all and all that goes beyond a government”.

From the coordination between administrations, from the institutional loyalty and from the government cooperation, Alemán affirmed that the Government presided over by Ángel Víctor Torres “has shown that it is the best recipe to respond and give the necessary peace of mind to the citizens.”

On the other hand, the spokeswoman stressed that the two axes of the Government in Social Rights, the “ambitious” Plan Canarias Te Cuida and the Citizen Income Law, are “essential” to change the system of benefits and attention to citizenship. “And these foundations are already laid and what is just as important, with financing,” she remarked.

Nayra Alemán wanted to make it clear that the budgetary and human resources effort this year in dependence has been “incontestable”, and assured that the results will begin to be seen soon. “That is the commitment of the PSOE”, he affirmed.

AN “ABSOLUTE” PRIORITY.

In health matters, Alemán stressed that for the Socialists, before and after the pandemic, public health is an “absolute” priority, emergencies and the improvement of the service portfolio. “And it is demonstrated by facts such as the budgetary ones. The Canary Islands Health Service (SCS) is one of the areas with the greatest budget increase,” he said.

Likewise, he highlighted the relevance and effectiveness of the Aborda Plan launched by the Government of the Canary Islands to reduce waiting lists and with “obvious” results, with improvements in hospitals such as the pediatric towers of the Materno Infantil in Gran Canaria and the operating rooms in the south of Tenerife. Along these lines, he stressed that health personnel have been exemplary in the vaccination process and the success of vaccination “reminds us every day that our public health system is the jewel of our system.”

With regard to tourism, the spokeswoman for the Socialist Parliamentary Group indicated that it has been one of the sectors most affected by the pandemic, but the Canary Islands “knew how to respond with a safe and quality destination.” She also said that it is an obligation to take advantage of the full range of opportunities presented by European funds in tourism to advance the sustainability of the sector, through tourism sustainability plans with a destination in collaboration with the councils.

“COURAGEOUS” DECISIONS

Nayra Alemán stated that today we are “in another economic scenario thanks to courageous political decisions that have made economic recovery not only faster, reaching all citizens, but also becoming an opportunity for the present and future to make these islands a sustainable territory, socially balanced and fair, with opportunities”.

Alemán also highlighted the 1,144 million that the Government of Spain transferred to the Canary Islands to inject into companies and for the self-employed. “They said that they would not arrive, that the Government was abandoning the Canary Islands. That speech as hackneyed as years of nationalist government. Then they told us that it would not be executed, that they would not reach the pockets of the Canary Islands. And we are not all the same, nor are we all we are so irresponsible. The money has reached the pockets of the canaries and canaries “.

The deputy dedicated part of her speech to La Palma and said that, in this emergency, the Government “has undoubtedly been up to the task”. “The only reality is that so many mechanisms have never been activated in such a coordinated manner in the face of a natural phenomenon,” she praised.

Nayra Alemán ended her speech stating that recovering and reinventing oneself “is an obligation for the Government”. “Recovering and reinventing oneself is also a way of managing. Innovating every day to succeed in the response offered to these circumstances. Innovating to reduce uncertainty and innovating so that citizens continue to understand and feel that this Government manages the present and projects the future of our islands. That guarantees services and benefits and that, above all, is on your side”, he concluded.
