The alderman, who visited the facilities together with the first vice president of the Cabildo and councilor for Roads, Enrique Arriaga, and the insular director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, recalled that the San Miguel City Council has been requesting for more than two years the exploitation and maintenance of the emblematic infrastructure owned by the Cabildo. “After almost three years closed, it has deficiencies in elements of the lookout’s façade, the lights are broken, the furniture has deteriorated and the gardens have dried up,” the mayor of San Miguel explained to this newspaper, aware that it will be A reform is necessary to “tune up” the facilities and recover the restaurant service, for which several companies have already shown interest in opting for exploitation. The City Council is also exploring the possibility of opening a training center for future hospitality professionals, according to the mayor.

For his part, Enrique Arriaga pointed out that “it is very important that the Mirador de la Centinela be put into service and available to residents and visitors as soon as possible” and stressed that the Highways area is working in that direction. In addition, he stressed that the facilities are in “very good condition, so their reopening will not require a large investment.” Arriaga highlighted the “great tourist attraction” of the place once it was rehabilitated.

The first vice president of the Cabildo and the mayor of San Miguel de Abona also addressed other issues such as the works, nearing completion, to repair the road surface of the TF-565, which joins this municipality with Vilaflor de Chasna, and which includes the improvement of gutters and fencing.

In addition, the City Council explained the need to undertake work to improve the access road to Aldea Blanca – the road that connects with the center of Buzanada -, whose volume of traffic continues to increase. For this, explained Arturo González, it will be necessary to sign an agreement with the Cabildo.
