SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 22. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Seprona patrol of Puerto de la Cruz, in collaboration with fishing inspectors from the Fisheries Inspection Service of the General Directorate of Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands, carried out several inspections this past weekend in various specialized restaurants in the north of the island of Tenerife in the sale of fresh fish as well as vehicle controls in the areas close to the ports of landing of fishery products that culminated in the intervention of more than 57 kilos.

During these actions, the Civil Guard agents were able to verify that certain fishery products were being marketed illegally in some restaurants as their owners were unable to document their origin, either with a purchase invoice or first sale note.

In addition, they were also able to observe that other specimens presented physical evidence of having been captured illegally, more specifically through poaching with a rifle, and some premises had certain health deficiencies.

For this reason, the agents notified sanction proposals to six restaurants in the north of the island.

In total, the agents seized 18.49 kilos of old women; 1.5 kilos of red mullet; two kilos of moray eel; 44 kilos of cuttlefish; 16.83 kilos of baby squid; 2.5 kilos of limpets; 3.3 kilos of cod and 2.42 kilos of conger eel.
