The improvement of the southern motorway enters its last phase with the placement of the wearing course, a task that begins in the section that runs through Arico. The works are focused on El Río, Las Maretas and Tajao and on the southbound roadway between kilometers 43.7 and 49, which covers junctions 46 (Tajao-Environmental Complex) and 49 (Chimiche-El Río-Las Maretas). . Therefore, these two exits will remain closed until Thursday from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
To ensure safety and maintain night traffic, Carreteras del council will enable diversions. Until Wednesday, the landfill link will remain closed. During these nights, vehicles traveling south and wishing to access the core of Tajao or to the Environmental Complex should continue until exit 49, where they can make a U-turn. Those who from these two towns seek to join the highway towards Adeje, must access the road to the capital, to make the change of direction at junction 42, from Villa de Arico-Abades.
On Wednesday and Thursday nights, link 49 will also be affected, so vehicles heading south wishing to access Tajao, Chimiche, The River, Las Maretas or the Environmental Complex, they must continue until exit 51 (Granadilla Industrial Estate), where they can make a U-turn.
Also, during the work on Wednesday, those who need to drive south from these areas should leave in the direction of Santa Cruz of Tenerife and make use of junction 42 (Villa de Arico-Abades) to make a change of direction. On Thursday night, it will be possible to use link 46.
These works are part of the resurfacing of the TF-1 which is being carried out since last April and which contemplates an execution period of 14 months. In total, the works, carried out by SACYR, will comprise nearly 40 kilometers of the highway between Adeje and Arico.
The island councilor for Roads, Enrique Arriaga, explains that “the work is in its final phase” and highlights that the rehabilitation of the TF-1 “has made traffic more fluid, without forgetting that the planned deadlines are being met.” Arriaga also highlights the sustainability of this action without compromising the quality of the work.
