SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 19. (EUROPE PRESS) –

During this week, the Cabildo de Tenerife Roads Department will complete the rehabilitation of the surface of the Autopista del Sur (TF-1) in several of its sections, with the paving of the wearing course in El Río, Las Maretas and Tajao, in the municipality of Arico. In order to be able to undertake them safely, different diversions will be established for the circulation around these nuclei.

The island councilor for Roads, Enrique Arriaga, explained that the work is in its final phase and highlighted that the rehabilitation of the TF-1 “has made traffic more fluid, without forgetting that the planned deadlines are being met.”

“The insular Corporation’s commitment to sustainability is absolute and once we have reached this point, in which we begin to see the results and see the end of the rehabilitation near, we can say with total certainty that using methods that are more respectful of the environment it is feasible, it works and there is no reason to compromise the quality or speed of project execution,” added Arriaga.

From Sunday to Thursday, the rehabilitation, carried out by Sacyr, will affect the road only in the direction of Adeje, specifically in the section between kilometers 43.7 and 49, which includes links 46 (Tajao/Environmental Complex) and 49 (Chimiche/The River/Las Maretas). Therefore, these two exits will remain closed.

As usual, the improvement work will take place at night, between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., to reduce inconvenience to users due to the lower flow of traffic during this period of time.

To guarantee the safety of the area and maintain traffic at night, Carreteras will enable different detours. Between this Sunday and next Wednesday link 46 will remain closed. During these nights, vehicles traveling south and wishing to access the Tajao nucleus or the Environmental Complex must continue to exit 49, where they can make a U-turn to return, towards Santa Cruz, to the destination area.

On the other hand, those who from these two centers seek to join the motorway in the direction of Adeje, must access the road to the capital, to make the change of direction at junction 42 of Villa de Arico/Abades.

On Wednesday and Thursday nights, link 49 will also be affected, so vehicles heading south wishing to access Tajao, Chimiche, El Río, Las Maretas or the Environmental Complex must continue this time until Exit 51 (Polígono Industrial de Granadilla), where you can make the U-turn.

Also, during the work on Wednesday, those who need to drive south from these areas should leave in the direction of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and use junction 42 (Villa de Arico/Abades) to make a U-turn. While, on Thursday night, it will be possible to use link 46.

These works are part of the TF-1 resurfacing plan that has been carried out since last April and which includes an execution period of approximately fourteen months. In total, the works, carried out by Sacyr, will comprise nearly 40 kilometers of the road between Adeje and Arico.
