SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 18. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands communicates this Tuesday 5,424 new cases of coronavirus COVID-19 since the last update made on Tuesday, of which 1,462 correspond to those notified in the last 24 hours.

Thus, the total accumulated cases in the Canary Islands since the start of the pandemic is 317,903 with 14,943 active, of which 32 are admitted to the ICU and 289 remain hospitalized.

The Canary Islands have registered four deaths since the last update on Tuesday. Two of the deaths occurred in Gran Canaria, one in Tenerife and one in La Palma.

The deceased were between 64 and 87 years old, except for one of the cases with 34 years. All the people had previous pathologies and were hospitalized.

The Accumulated Incidence at 7 days in the Canary Islands stands at 419.49 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 14 days at 847.45 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

By islands, since last Tuesday, Tenerife has added 2,516 cases with a total of 146,033 accumulated cases and 8,133 epidemiologically active cases; Gran Canaria has 120,101 accumulated cases, 2,087 more since Tuesday, and 5,168 active.

Lanzarote adds 227 new cases with 21,170 accumulated and 197 epidemiologically active; Fuerteventura has 15,283 accumulated cases, with 130 new cases and 336 active ones.

La Palma adds 321 new positives, so it has 11,089 accumulated and 786 active.

La Gomera has 111 new positives, so its accumulated number is 2,240 and it has 268 active cases, and El Hierro has 32 new cases, so it has 1,987 accumulated number and its active number is 55.

Until this Friday, a total of 3,362,204 diagnostic tests have been carried out on the islands, of which 20,853 correspond to the last 72 hours.
