Lanzarote It was the third island in which the greatest activity of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) was registered in 2021, after Gran Canaria and Teneriferesolving a total of 20,357 incidents last year, of which 71.2% were urgent or emergency situations.
As reported by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, 20,078 people were assisted who received health care from the health coordinators through telecare or through the network of care resources –ambulances, helicopters and medicalized aircraft–.
Of all the resolved incidents20,357, 15% of the interventions were due to traffic, sports or work accidents, among others, while in the remaining 84.9% of cases illness cases were treated.
For its part, broken down by type of incident, the SUC intervened in Lanzarote in 8,964 emergencies, the most numerous. It is followed by health emergencies, with 5,538 resolved by the SUC and, next, the health consultations that reached the figure of 4,011. To this must be added the 1,844 urgent and secondary health transports to and from different health centers.
Finally, throughout the Canary Islands, the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) Last year, it responded to a total of 371,030 requests for health care, about 1,017 a day, in which this service provided some type of assistance to 367,263 people who were in urgent or emergency situations.
