Titsa reinforces its workforce with 107 new drivers and will make another 77 permanent

Interurban Transport of Tenerife (Titsa), company of the Cabildo, carries out the last phase of one of the personnel selection processes that the company has open and that will allow an increase in the workforce of 107 new drivers, while the jobs of another 77 people will be consolidated.

The Minister of Mobility and President of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga, explained that “with these additions, for the first time in its 43-year history, the company will have budgeted for the necessary staff of drivers to cover all the line and frequency services it provides, taking into account account the anticipated demand.

“These contracts are necessary to offer a quality public transport service adapted to the needs of customers, given that the forecast of passengers transported for this year will be around 45.95 million, 0.42% higher than that of 2019, the reference year before Covid,” Arriaga highlighted.

The island’s Director of Mobility, José Alberto León, maintains that “if we want public transport to be the first option for getting around the island, we must have a workforce that is sized and adapted to the new reality”.

“With the increase in drivers in the workforce, it is possible to reinforce those lines with the greatest demand to respond to the mobility needs of the island’s inhabitants and visitors,” he assured.

With the addition of these employees the selection process started in 2017 ends with which, in addition, a bag of 140 new drivers is generated to turn to in case of needing new staff expansions.

Likewise, to guarantee the service while the personnel selection processes that Titsa has open are completed, the company has incorporated 73 additional drivers with temporary contracts for a maximum period of 6 months through a public job offer, who have been added to the template gradually; 46 did so last November, while during December 2021 and January 2022, 8 more were added each month. In February 2022, the company hired 11 more drivers.

In addition, the company resumes the selective process started in 2019 that had to be temporarily suspended due to the pandemic. The opposition will continue on April 2 with a new test.
