SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 16. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The municipalities of Tenerife will have two million euros available this year to continue with the deployment of projects linked to the Municipal Modernization Plan promoted by the Cabildo and which experiences a budget increase of 29% in relation to the year 2021.

The second vice president and Insular Councilor for the Presidency, Finance and Modernization, Berta Pérez, explains in a note that this year a total of 22 projects will be carried out, of which 15 are new and the rest are a continuation of those that began in previous periods.

“With this plan we want to consolidate the support that the Cabildo provides to all the municipalities of the island, with special attention to those with less than 20,000 inhabitants that have less management capacity, in areas as important as cybersecurity, the development of digital citizenship, electronic administration or accessibility”, he indicates.

In addition, Berta Pérez highlights that the Municipal Modernization Plan 2022 is the first to be processed in accordance with the Regulation of Comprehensive Assistance to Municipalities, which the Cabildo approved last year, and which is being a reference for municipalities in various areas. management of the public services they provide to citizens.

The town halls have until March 21st to request their adhesion to the different projects.

Among the most prominent are those aimed at improving the electronic administration of municipalities, such as the hosting of electronic offices and internet portals and the financing of electronic administration platforms.

In addition, as explained by the insular director of Modernization, Daniel González, one of the strategic axes of the plan is the improvement of the digital skills of citizens for the proper use of electronic administration.

“Although people already use electronic media in a high percentage when interacting with the Cabildo, with more than 70% of monthly average, we want to advance in the development of digital skills in citizenship so that anyone can use these means. It is about not leaving anyone behind in the process of moving towards a more digital society. To do this, a new project is going to be developed in the Insular Network of Digital Inclusion Centers (RICID),” he points out.

Cybersecurity is another of the objectives of the 2022 Municipal Modernization Plan, which is to be given a significant boost.

“During last year we executed the implementation of the cybersecurity project in the five smaller municipalities and during this year another 12 municipalities will be incorporated, with which a cybersecurity service will be provided to all municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants”, indicates Berta Pérez, who adds that “in fact, it is the project that has the largest budget allocation within the plan, with a total of 630,000 euros”.

CYBERSECURITY

In his opinion, “the cybersecurity project of the Cabido de Tenerife with the municipalities is a good practice recommended by the National Cryptologic Center, with which we have signed a collaboration agreement, which is a benchmark for other councils and councils.”

Likewise, Daniel Morales refers to the objective of supporting improvements in transparency in municipalities, for which the Cabildo offers the hosting service for transparency portals and support for the publication of open data.

“This will allow the publication of municipal data in reusable formats and, therefore, can be used by society to create value”, he comments.

The insular director of Modernization recalls that the Cabildo de Tenerife has revalidated the outstanding in the last transparency evaluation published, relative to 2020. In addition, the 37 entities dependent on the insular corporation have obtained an average of notably high.

The rest of the projects that the 2022 Municipal Modernization Plan will develop are linked to a backup service for contingencies, which will allow municipalities to have a copy of their computer systems at the Cabildo facilities; support for local corporations to comply with the regulations on accessibility of internet portals and mobile applications that guarantee access to people with disabilities or with some difficulty or the Data Protection Delegate service and advice and training in this matter.

The improvement of information and communication technology infrastructures will be deployed through centralized internet access; access to the Sara network, the communications network of public administrations, through the Cabildo to improve efficiency and security; the hosting of municipal equipment in the D-Alix, which meets the highest security and availability standards, or the virtualization of servers and desktops, which relieves the municipalities of a significant volume of work and allows them to have technologies and methodologies that could not be implemented otherwise.

Likewise, the connection of the municipal headquarters to the insular fiber optic ring will be facilitated, which will allow them to have greater security and speed in communications with citizens.
