Three deceased and one missing is the tragic balance of this weekend on the coasts from Canary Islands due to the strong waves that has prevailed in recent days and all this despite the recommendations of the authorities who have called for caution and avoid going into the sea when the waves beat strongly. The deaths have occurred on the island of El Hierro, Fuerteventura and La Gomera and until this afternoon They were looking for another bather who disappeared on Saturday afternoon on the coast of Bajamar in Tenerife. Finally, the lifeless body of this person who had disappeared after the rescue of another person in the same area has been found.
A helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group and another from the Maritime Rescue have been taking turns in the search, as well as a device that was also searching on land.
La Gomera
The last deceased by drowning has occurred on the island of La Gomera. This is a 56-year-old man who was with a minor under 9, who is in critical conditionand that had to be taken out of the sea in the natural pools of Hermigua, as reported by the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) 112.
The event occurred around 12:15 p.m. this Sunday when the alert was received that a man and a minor, both of German origin, were in trouble at sea, so emergency resources were immediately activated.
Members of the Civil Guard managed to get the minor out of the water so that she could be assisted by the basic life support ambulance team of the Canary Islands Emergency Service and Primary Care that was at the scene.
Once stabilized, the health team prepared her evacuation in the SUC medical helicopter that transferred her to the Candelaria hospital in Tenerife, where she was admitted in critical condition.
The GES helicopter located the adult male at sea, rescued him and evacuated him to the San Sebastián helipad, where the SUC medicalized ambulance personnel went, who found that he was in cardiorespiratory arrest and, despite the cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers performed, finally confirmed his death.
Fuerteventura
A woman in her 50s has died after being rescued from the sea andn the coast of Pájara, in Fuerteventura. The rescue occurred at 7:20 a.m. after the 112 room received an alert informing that they had taken a woman out of the water with symptoms of drowning and that she was in cardiorespiratory arrest.
The coordinating doctor of the SUC, present in the operating room on 1-1-2, gave instructions by telephone to the alerters who were with her so that they perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers until the arrival of emergency resources.
Upon the arrival of the SUC, despite the resuscitation maneuvers carried out, they finally confirmed the death of the affected woman, a foreign woman in her 50s.
