The Cabildo de Tenerife has decided to cut off communications with Russian and Ukrainian computer servers to prevent cyberattacks, which have grown “exponentially” since the war began more than a week ago.
In statements to ‘Canarias Radio’ reported by Europa Press, the president, Pedro Martín, commented that cybernetic “attacks” have been a “constant” in the island corporation in recent years but now they have “intensified”, which forced to make this decision.
Martín has pointed out that the attacks are “outrageous”, with an average of 180,000 per month last year and a peak of one million in a given month, attacking “the entire system” of the Cabildo “and in all possible ways” .
Due to this situation, which generates a “real problem”, the Cabildo has signed an agreement with the CNI (National Intelligence Center) to protect the computer system and they are going to transfer it to the municipalities so that they can “shield” themselves against this threat.
