The Municipality of El Rosario approved this Friday in plenary session, with the votes of the government group (IR-Greens and SSP), a scredit supplement to its budget amounting to 2.6 million euros. Coming from the remainder of the treasury (municipal savings), this amount means having greater economic resources and adding 15% more to the initial accounts of the City Council, which were definitively approved in December and amounted to 16.9 million.
“This increase in municipal accounts will allow a very significant increase in investment in public works, which almost quadruples its initial budget, going from 550,000 to 1,960,000 euros,” explained the first deputy mayor and councilor for the Treasury, Sara Cabello. In this way, of the 2.6 million euros that will be added to the local accounts, once this budget modification is approved, ppractically two million will go to new investments while the remaining 650,000 euros will go to the improvement of goods and services.
Cabello (IR-Greens) highlights that “with the suspension of fiscal rules by the State Government and given the good financial health of the City Council of El Rosario, we can strengthen our accounts to improve investment levels, help reactivate the local economy and improve the provision of public services.
The Consistory of Rosario already made use last year of the treasury remnants accumulated over previous years to be able to have a greater spending capacity with the money saved by citizens. “This circumstance allowed the City Council to invest a record figure of six million in 2021,” highlights the institution.
«In El Rosario we have done the work during the preceding years and that allows us, in this time of pandemic in which public administrations see their investments slow down due to the decrease in income, we are in a position to inject more economic resources for works and services that citizens will benefit from, which, after all, is how we can repay the effort they make as taxpayers,” said Cabello.
Among the package of works that will form part of the increase in the investment chapter The 2022 Municipal Asphalting Plan stands out, with an amount of 1,330,000 euros; the comprehensive reform of Calle Calvario, the main access road to the urban center of La Esperanza, which will benefit from an investment of 530,000 euros, and projects to improve energy efficiency amounting to 100,000 euros.
As for the chapter on current goods and services, it will be increased by 650,000 euros, with a “relevant” rise in the items allocated for Culture, Sports and Education or the surveillance and security service on the beaches of El Rosario.
