SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 28 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Minister of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, Sebastián Franquis, announced this Monday that the more than 400 people who are housed in hotels on the island –specifically in Fuencaliente and Breña Alta– as a result of the volcanic eruption will be able to leave them in April.

In an appearance in a parliamentary committee, he commented that so far 81 homes have been awarded on the island and despite the “considerable effort” made by the autonomous community to obtain real estate “there are no left on the market” in the Aridane Valley.

Franquis has indicated that throughout this week and the next all the pending homes will be delivered and assumes that another of the difficulties is that those affected “do not want to leave” the region, giving as an example that of the five homes purchased in Fuencaliente there are two still unannounced.

The counselor has advanced that Visocan is in talks with a promoter to acquire half a hundred flats that are half built and that would be completed in about six months.

Likewise, it has indicated that rent will be promoted for the families of those affected and that 85 modular homes have been acquired for Los Llanos de Aridane and another 35 for El Paso, whose installation is at the expense of the land being urbanized and with all the services available.
