Cabildo de Tenerife, Arona City Council and the General Directorate of Coasts will work together to repair the damage caused by high tide on the promenade of Avenida del Atlántico, in Las Galletas, specifically in the central pedestrian section that runs along the beach of the pier.
This was indicated by municipal sources, who reported that the Cabildo will process the works through the emergency procedure, which will be declared an emergency, in order to shorten the deadlines to fix the damages caused by the strong waves last Friday. The high tide, which continued to hit the area with force last weekend, caused the promenade to subside partially, exposing a gap of about four meters in length, although fortunately there were no personal injuries to be regretted.
Preventively, it has been decided to keep one of the lanes in the Las Galletas-El Fraile direction closed to traffic, so to leave Las Galletas you must drive along the Las Rosas road. As a result of the accident, the Local Police and Civil Protection proceeded to fence the area, prohibiting the passage of passers-by.
