SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 23 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, wanted to make it clear to those who criticize the cancellation of the Canary Islands-State bilateral commission scheduled for today that it will be held “when necessary” and that “it is not a good adviser to run for the sake of running”.
“If we have to wait a little longer, we will wait for the transfers -of powers- and the agreements to be the best for the Canary Islands”, said the Canarian president during a press conference offered today together with his counterpart from the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig .
Ángel Víctor Torres confirmed that there is still no new date for the bilateral commission to be held, but he indicated that it is expected that on the same day that it takes place, it will give way to a mixed commission where the transfer of costs powers will materialize.
Torres recalled that there are autonomous communities, such as Andalusia, that have taken five years since their Statute of Autonomy was approved until they had jurisdiction over costs, and clarified that the Government he presides over has only been a little over two years.
Likewise, he pointed out to those who criticize the cancellation of the bilateral commission that the last one was held two years ago; for this reason, they consider that they must “remember” and consult “the newspaper library” before criticizing the current government.
