SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, held a meeting this Friday with representatives of the works council of the Cepsa refinery to listen to their concerns regarding the transfer of the activity to the Port of Granadilla.

Also participating in the meeting were the Minister of Employment and Socioeconomic Development, Carmen Luz Baso, and the island director of Human Resources and Legal Advice, Lidia Pereira.

Martín highlighted “the importance that the transfer of the refinery has for the island and for the capital of Tenerife, because it will allow the recovery of a space that offers infinite opportunities, for leisure, green areas and places for economic and social development”, collects a corporation note.

This process, which will begin soon but will have a long execution period, involves the workers, and the president has been interested in knowing their position in the face of the new situation that will arise with the transfer, an aspect that he has also commented on with the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres.

“Although the company has announced that it will continue to carry out aviation fuel storage and supply activities, bunker activity and strategic reserves in the new location, the staff has expressed their concern about not having, as of today, exact information of how the whole process is going to be and, especially, about the conditions of its incorporation in the new facilities”, explained the president.

Pedro Martín undertook to establish contact with the company to inquire about its forecasts regarding the future of the workers, around 150 people.

“It seems reasonable that this is one of the issues that, along with the transfer and recovery of the land, is a priority on the agenda of this important process,” he said.
