The Canary Islands Government announced this Thursday the balance of the epidemiological data and, therefore, the measures decreed in the islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria despite still being in alert level 4. In general terms, a general capacity of 75 percent outdoors and 50 percent indoors is established; groups of people in spaces for public and private use, closed or outdoors of a maximum of 8 people, except cohabitants.

In addition, there will be closing times in establishments and activities that, prior to the pandemic, did not have a set closing time or had a closing time greater than 03:00.

A panorama that has been echoed by the vice president of the Leisure and Restoration Association of Tenerife (AERO), Carlos Quintero, who has recognized before the microphones of COPE Canarias the relief that the extension of the hours of closing: “We are happy because one more hour shows, especially now that things are picking up after two years with strong limitations. We must bear in mind that we will be able to earn 30 percent more in cash. It is clear that people want to go out, turn the page and have fun, what we would like is for this process to be faster and not take long”.

For his part, the president of the Federation of Urban Areas, Abbas Moujir, declares that it is a decision “that we have been demanding in view of the evolution of infections. What is not understandable is the issue of mixing measures and levels, since it generates confusion for everyone. We hope that it will soon go to total de-escalation as in other regions.
