The tourist city of Cross port presented this Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the Lago Martianez the program of events 2022 International Carnival. It will be an edition still marked by the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, but one of its highlights will be the recovery, in a smaller format than usual, of the popular obstacle course, heels and costumes Mascarita, put on heels.

From the Department of Festivities of the Porto Town Hall it is detailed that the Mascarita It will take place inside Lago Martiánez, like the apotheosis arena, in a tour with the public seated, who will be able to enjoy what happens in other areas of the curcuito through the cameras and screens. A “Formula 1 type” organization that will allow you to enjoy this crazy race “Like never seen before.”

The acts of this reduced edition of the carnival will take place from March 2 to 6 in the Costa Martiánez Tourist Complexwhich will make it possible to meet with the Porto carnival groups and with the carnivals of the German city of Dusseldorfwhich marks the fiftieth anniversary of a twinning that has been so beneficial in terms of promoting tourism in Puerto de la Cruz throughout Germany, the city’s main foreign tourist market.

The mayor of Porto Marco Gonzalez (PSOE), stressed that this carnival offers «an opportunity that Puerto de la Cruz cannot miss: to offer all the light, creativity and illusion that are the hallmark of our International Carnival. A party that speaks here and outside our island of a lively and attractive city for all our visitors. A festival that once again places the city as a cultural benchmark, in a titanic effort to offer the best of our identity to both citizens and our tourists».

The galas, in the Summer Carnival

The galas for the election of the adult and children’s kings of the carnival are postponed until the edition of the Summer Carnival, which will be held between August 25 and September 11. Although the galas will still take months to be held, next March 2, coinciding with the proclamation, the seven adult candidates and the four candidates for the child throne will be presented

With the attendance of numerous well-known faces of the Porto carnival who wanted to support with their presence the municipal commitment to maintain this edition of the Porto carnival, the celebration of the famous Mascarita Ponte Tacón on March 4 in a “reduced but more spectacular version where both the stage and the staging will delight the thousands of fans of this, the most peculiar and unique obstacle course in heels and platforms only possible for the bravest and most intrepid carnival goers” , as highlighted by the councilor for Fiestas Albert Castile. The apotheosis of the carnival will be on the same stage on Sunday, March 6.

The program is completed with shows like Carnival nightsdirected by the artist and creative from Porto Wycho Torres that «it is already preparing a staging that offers the most groundbreaking essence of those who make the carnival in a unique show that no one should miss». All tickets for the different performances of these five days of carnival will be on sale in the coming days through the party website and its capacity will depend on the health situation. In addition, the acts can be followed deferred on the social networks of the City Council in a special virtual program in which the program stands out oh what a hesitancy which, as a casual and fun informative pill, will introduce us to the backstage of all the performances of this carnival.
