The Cabildo de Tenerife will proceed between the night of August 23 and the day after to resurface the section of the north highway TF-5 between Good step, on Icod de los Vinos, and Los Realejos.

The works are part of the comprehensive rehabilitation of the firm that the island corporation has been undertaking since last April on the TF-5 and which is estimated to be completed in April 2022, the Cabildo reported this Sunday in a note. The Minister of Roads, Enrique Arriaga, explains that “this very important resurfacing action” of the northern highway, for which 12 million euros have been allocated, is being carried out at night to minimize the inconvenience and risk to road users.

The rehabilitation will increase the road safety of this high-occupancy highway and will make driving more comfortable, he says. In addition, adds Arriaga, it has been arranged that a section is not started until the one that is being worked is completely completed and thus, every night, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., it will run almost a kilometer.

With this measure, the effect on drivers will be less, he adds. The insular director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, points out that to carry out the work between Icod de los Vinos and Los Realejos it is essential to cut a lane, allowing traffic in the free lane and with alternative circulation. This section is part of the third phase of the TF-5 road surface rehabilitation works, after work has already been carried out between Padre Anchieta and the entrance to Santa Cruz, as well as between Padre Anchieta and Los Rodeos.
