SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 16 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Roads area, has presented a technical solution to the City Council of Puerto de la Cruz to reduce the consequences caused by heavy rains on the TF-31 road, an island access road to the municipality along the coast of Martiánez who, for at least 15 years, has been cut several times by the cascade of water that rushes onto the road from the Los Pastores ravine.

The First Vice President and Island Councilor for Roads, Enrique Arriaga, held a working meeting with the Mayor of Puerto de la Cruz, Marco González, which was also attended by the Island Director, Tomás Félix García.

There, the mayor was told that said solution has the approval and endorsement of the Insular Water Council, which was represented by its manager, Javier Davara, the Cabildo reports in a note.

Enrique Arriaga states that “it is the will of the Cabildo to solve this problem that has affected the island road TF-31 and the residents of Puerto de la Cruz for more than 15 years, it is not acceptable that every time it rains with a certain intensity this road becomes inoperative and has to be closed for reasons of road safety”.

Thus, he comments that “the Roads area is carrying out important work throughout the island’s geography to eliminate the black spots on the island’s roads and an example of what we are talking about will be this intervention”.

Marco González, who attended the meeting together with the councilor for the Sustainable City David Hernández, thanked the work that has been carried out for months in collaboration with the Cabildo de Tenerife to unravel this situation and stressed that, finally, after almost two decades, “taking the first step” will begin with a viable and adequate solution, “so necessary after so many years of damage to the municipality”.

“This is the first step in this solution and it will include the participation of several administrations in its corresponding processing, so that it can be completed in the coming months by giving the necessary response to this incident, which in those days harms the normal transit of entrance and exit to the municipality”, highlighted the mayor.
