Saturday concert on Teide. The latest among the numerous inappropriate uses in the protected natural area of the National Park has been the performance of a group of people who put on a gig in the San José Mines, with electric guitar and drums included, without any permission. This has been denounced for the umpteenth time by the Telesforo Bravo-Juan Coello Foundation on its social networks.

El Teide: “Paradise for crazy people”

El Teide: “Paradise for crazy people”

In this forum it is explained that it was five in the afternoon on Saturday in Las Minas de San José. And the concert was put together. They detail the sources that, according to the regulations of the Governing Plan for Use and Management in force in what is the most important natural space on the Island, Natural Heritage of Humanity and European Diploma, it is forbidden to play music and it has its reason for being. It is about enjoying nature “without piped music because it is not a concert hall or a bar where they have to liven up the evening.” The idea is to protect the natural heritage and preserve it because, insist those who defend a landscape to be conserved, “it is not a recreational park”.

A few years ago a great controversy arose because the Cabildo wanted the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra to give a great concert in the Llano de Ucanca. Fortunately sanity prevailed and Wolfredo Wildpret, Telesforo Bravo and the environmental groups managed to prevent it from happening. A few days ago a person who took out a bucio and began to play in Los Roques de García, was immediately told that he had to cease his activity. However, in the Teide National Park from five in the afternoon, and on many weekends, “everything is possible”.
