The Popular Party (PP) of Puerto de la Cruz requests improvements for the taxi sector consisting of recovering licenses, creating a single radio taxi in the city, approving the airport tariff and the revision of the regulation of the shift service.

In the meetings held with taxi drivers from the Port, they assure that they demand to recover at least 50 licenses in the next 10 years, in order to adapt the fleet to the real demand. In addition, they convey that “it is crucial to unify the radio taxi service via municipal ordinance, to end unfair and irregular competition.”

The taxi drivers and the PP consider that a new system of regulation of service shifts should be defined, following the one recently approved, for greater efficiency and to reduce the number of taxis that are on the street every day, in benefit of the economy of the affected and the sustainability of the city.

As an additional measure, an airport fee is claimed to end the reported collection of illegal commissions, which make the user pay more for the service. From the ranks of the Popular Party “we believe that it is a courageous proposal.”
