Granadilla buys a share of Titsa to implement urban transport

Granadilla de Abona projects the start-up of the municipal urban transport service. To do this, the local government is about to formalize the acquisition of a share of the public company Transporte Interurbano de Tenerife, SA (Titsa), attached to the Cabildo. José Domingo Regalado, Mayor of Granadastresses that it is “the main demand of citizens.”

Among the places that will benefit from municipal urban transport are Cruz de Tea, Chimiche, El Salto, El Draguito, Casablanca, El Desierto, Los Blanquitos and Atogo. It is about favoring the transfer of the population of these towns and neighborhoods with the three main nuclei of the municipality, cases of the urban area of ​​Granadilla, San Isidro and El Médano. “It is the greatest demand at this time. We have taken the first steps to make it a reality this year,” adds the councilor from Granada.

Regalado explains that “the administrative procedures required to carry out this project have yet to be completed”, while the work necessary to complete the bus station in the helmet so that it is more accessible.

The First Vice President and Island Councilor for Mobility, Enrique Arriaga, announced that the works “include a comprehensive remodeling of the station so that it is accessible to anyone. The Cabildo will invest 363,943 euros for this and we hope that the works will be completed in February.” The works include resurfacing the exterior pedestrian areas, raising the access docks to the buses from the platform, adapting the pedestrian access ramps, replacing inaccessible street furniture and adding some new ones, replacing the access doors to the station, change the exterior and interior lighting in halls and stairs, build an adapted unisex toilet and another for people with ostomies, resurface the road and widen the concrete floors in the bus parking lots, among other tasks.

In the opinion of the mayor of Granadilla de Abona, the implementation of urban transport by bus responds to citizen demand and “will be a notable advance in improving the quality of life for the potential beneficiary population.” An advance for which an item is reserved in the Municipal Budget for the current year, explains the alderman, who emphasizes that, also, “it is equivalent to an improvement for all in terms of mobility”.
