A total of twenty charitable entities of Tenerife benefit from the distribution of two million distributed by the Island Council as direct grants for humanitarian reasonsdistilled to entities associated with the Tenerife Solidarity Island Program of the Insular Corporation that They distribute food and basic necessities among the vulnerable population.

The call for these grants was approved on October 13 last year and it became effective on the 18th of that month, giving a term of fifteen working days for the presentation of applications. The Tenerife Solidarity Island Program established two lines of action, one endowed with one million euros, to support related entities or representatives of the organizations designated by the Agricultural Guarantee Fund (Fega) as an Associate Organization for the Distribution of food and essential products of the European Fund for the most disadvantaged people. This is the case of Red Cross and the Spanish Federation of Food Banks as associated distribution organizations, as stated in the bases of the call.

The aid provided by the Social Action area will be distributed through twenty charitable entities that meet the requirements established through the direct delivery of food or other essential products, as well as food prepared for consumption, in the case of soup kitchens.

The possibility is also contemplated that help be sent through prepaid social cards, with their corresponding top-ups and economic replenishments depending on demand.

Among the requirements established to qualify for the subsidies definitively approved on January 3, the entities must be attached to the Tenerife Solidarity Island Program.

The two million allocated within Line 2, to which twenty associations have accepted, regulates that 400,000 euros are distributed equally among the entities that can choose to the grant and apply for it. It sets a second criterion by population served between January and May 2021 to distribute 1.2 million of the total allocationproportionally and based on the number of people served, according to data from Sinpromi. By lastanother 400,000 euros are distributed among the entities based on their territorial implementationly if they distribute aid in more than 19 municipalities on the Island.

The regulatory bases establish that twenty entities benefited from these grants –for a value of three million that were distributed on Line 1 and Line 2– must justify the aid from June 1 to June 31 of next year, after the next local elections, although the bases make it clear that the associations that receive this aid from the Cabildo will have the obligation to submit to the actions of control of the General Intervention of the Cabildo.

The regulation establishes that entities will have to repay the full amount of the grant if they have falsified the conditions, hide or do not justify the expense; too You will have to partially repay the money. when it is proven that you have fewer beneficiaries than declared, do not spend at least half or do not state in your actions that you have the collaboration of the Cabildo de Tenerife.
