Carlos Alonso (CC), councilor of the Cabildo de Tenerife, clarified yesterday, in statements to the SER chain in Tenerife, that the purchase of the two lands of the CD Tenerife sports city that is now being investigated by the justice system was made to help the University de La Laguna (ULL) to develop infrastructures for research. Alonso is among those denounced for supporting the operation in four boards of directors of the Technological Park, the Cabildo company through which the acquisition was made, when he was the Minister of Economy.
Carlos Alonso stressed that “things were done well” and that he is collaborating with the justice system to clarify the details of the real estate operation. “We have already sent documentation and we will continue to do so so that everything is clarified,” explained the nationalist counselor, who added that “there is no negative report” in the file.
The former president of the Cabildo de Tenerife told the Hoy por Hoy program of the SER that the operation was carried out within the framework of a collaboration agreement with the ULL to provide the higher research center with some reserve land to expand its resources for the science and research. In fact, he recalled that these lands are still waiting for projects along this line to be developed, as they are only 5 minutes from the Anchieta campus.
