SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 9 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, Yaiza Castilla, presented this Wednesday in La Palma the ‘Bono Bonito’, a system of incentives for consumers to activate purchases in the establishments of the open commercial areas of the Island and with the ultimate goal of helping its reactivation and cushioning part of the losses suffered as a result of the volcano.

Yaiza Castilla, who was accompanied by the Director General of Commerce and Consumption, David Mille, explained to the president of the Cabildo de La Palma, Mariano Herández Zapata, and to the presidents of the business associations of Fauca, Fedepalma and Faep the phases of this project, which contemplates a total investment by the regional Executive of 1,240,000 throughout this year and with a translation in spending in establishments of at least 2 million euros, between the public incentive and the user’s contribution.

Through this initiative, cards loaded with a balance of 60 euros can be purchased to spend in commercial establishments and palm restaurants that adhere to the program and of which the buyer will contribute only half, that is, 30 euros.

The first phase of the ‘Bono Bonito’ will be aimed at the municipalities directly affected by the eruption of the volcano, such as Los Llanos de Aridane, El Paso and Tazacorte, for which an investment of 140,000 euros will be allocated. In a second phase, another bonus campaign will be launched, this time aimed at all the municipalities of La Palma for another 140,000 euros.

The counselor explained that both phases will be developed in collaboration with the Cabildo and Fauca from the month of March and until the items destined for this purpose are exhausted. The aim is to provide an economic injection of 480,000 euros in the island’s commercial fabric, since for each 60-euro bonus the user obtains a 30-euro bonus.

The president of the Cabildo, Mariano Hernández Zapata, stressed the need to instrumentalize support measures for all economic sectors to achieve the definitive reactivation and recovery of the Island.

In addition, he stressed that in this case “the commercial fabric is the main generator of direct jobs and we all have to be active subjects in the recovery: public administrations, citizens and the business sector have to work hand in hand to reactivate the economic and social fabric of the Island. The volcano brought destruction, but also opportunities. It is everyone’s responsibility to take advantage of them and build a better island,” he said.

Likewise, the strategy of the Government of the Canary Islands to support the trade of the Island, after the losses suffered as a result of the volcano, includes a third phase, pending implementation and whose activation is scheduled to start next June, for which It will have an item of 1 million euros, of which 240,000 will be allocated to the launch and dissemination of the commercial campaign and 750,000 will become ‘Pretty Vouchers’ to consume on the Island.

Yaiza Castilla pointed out that, in total, in the different phases of the project, the aim is to achieve economic activity around the establishments located in the open commercial areas of Palma for at least two million euros, “which is constituted as a important shock to recover part of the losses they had to face during the period of the volcanic eruption that paralyzed much of the commercial activity”.

For his part, the Director General of Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, David Mille, stressed that since “the start of the La Palma volcano eruption and the tremendous crisis that it has entailed in the island’s socioeconomic fabric, from the Ministry It was clear to us that a shock plan was necessary to reactivate the fabric of local commerce before we could talk about more structural actions that would transform the business model on the Island and could turn the palm trade into a benchmark for the commercial activity of the island. all Canary Islands”.

The details to adhere to this initiative, both for the companies that aspire to be beneficiaries of it and for the users, will be announced in the coming weeks through the corresponding dissemination campaigns.
