The CC-PNC spokesman in the Council of Tenerife and former island president, Carlos Alonsoaccuses the island government, led by the PSOE, of “ceasing to execute 169 million euros of its budget in 2021”, planned and unrealized expenses that, in his opinion, “have aggravated the crisis” caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Covid-19 «on the island of Tenerife».
For Carlos Alonso, the lack of management of the government team of Pedro Martin (PSOE) in the Cabildo of Tenerife “it is a burden for the economic recovery of the island” and calls for “a radical change when directing the Island Corporation”. He regrets that the year 2021 is «the lowest execution of the last decade», with 80.83%, and criticizes that «in the chapter on investments 124 million euros were left unused, because these works could help generate employment».
Alonso insists on criticizing that the Government of PSOE and Citizens stop spending 169 million euros in 2021, which means that in “the last two years the Cabildo de Tenerife has already stopped executing some 340 million euros, according to data provided by the area of tax authorities». In his opinion, “the island is worse than two years ago and that is something that anyone can see.”
The leader of CC-PNC in the Cabildo underlines that the report of the Treasury area as of December 31, 2021 reveals that of the 883 million euros of the 2021 budget, only 713 were executed, which represents 80.83%. Alonso warns that it is the lowest execution of the last decade: «The average execution of our last mandate (2015-2019) reached 92.1% and, in these last two years, it only reaches 80.8%. Tenerife is lagging behind and if the PSOE does not change its way of managing, the crisis will worsen even more in the future».
“The island is left behind and if the PSOE does not change its way of managing, the crisis will worsen”
Carlos Alonso It also criticizes that of the 279 million euros planned last year for investments, «only 154 million euros were executed. We are talking about the Investment chapter that the Tenerife Cabildo should have carried out and its execution barely reaches 55.4%. There are 124 million that were not used for poor planning by the government group and for its lack of management. That money could have been invested in works and projects that generated more employment.
He affirms that what has happened in the areas of Social Action, Roads and Tourism: «In the area that directs Marian Frank 25.5 million euros were not invested when there is a demand of more than 7,000 people asking for a social health place ». He also censures that in the area of Roads, Mobility, Innovation and Culture “45.8 million euros have not been invested”, while in Tourism “projects and works worth 16.8 million were left without starting up”.
The CC-PNC spokesperson adds that from his group they will continue working “so that Tenerife Don’t be left behind in recovery. We are being the most punished island from all points of view and we are going to present initiatives to promote employment and economic recovery.
