SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 9 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, said this Wednesday that the train in the south of Tenerife is a “necessary infrastructure” to deal with the “saturation” of traffic on the island and with a “reduced” territory but he has made it clear that he respects the “autonomy” of the Cabildo.

In an interview granted to ‘Radio Club Tenerife’ and collected by Europa Press, he said that he knows this project and that of Gran Canaria “well” because he presented amendments to the PGE when he was a national deputy and believes that they are good means of transport used in the big cities, they allow not to consume more land, they are an “alternative” to the car and the bus and they can be “sustainable” from the environmental point of view.

Right now there is an open debate in the Cabildo de Tenerife about the suitability of this project, which is supported by CC, PP and Cs –the orange formation is part of the Government– and reject PSOE and Sí Podemos, who thus agreed in the governance pact of Pedro Martín.
