SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 7 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the area of Sustainable Development and the Fight Against Climate Change, has installed one of the four automatic weather stations to which the area has committed as part of the INTERREG Cooperation Program at the El Tanque Ecomuseum VA MAC 2014-2020 of the Meteorological and Oceanic Observation System as a tool for the promotion of resilience and adaptation to climate change
It is a measurement instrument to monitor the climate and measure air temperature and humidity, vertical and horizontal precipitation, wind speed and direction, global solar radiation and ultraviolet B, atmospheric pressure, fuel temperature and humidity, net radiation, and it has a built-in communication system for data transmission.
“With this station we contribute to increasing the means for meteorological and oceanographic observation of the phenomenon of climate change on the island,” said councilor Javier Rodríguez Medina, who added that all the data that can be obtained on atmospheric behavior “will contribute to improving the objectives of study and action against climate change”
For his part, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Javier Parrilla, pointed out that the Ecomuseum of El Tanque “receives visits from educational centers and the general public, which will allow the population to be made aware of the research actions for the analysis and diagnosis of climate change that the Cabido is carrying out and raise awareness of this problem among citizens”.
