The sale of second-hand cars for January falls 3.16% in the Canary Islands

The National Association of Vehicle Dealers (Ancove) has reported this Monday that the sale of second-hand cars in January has fallen by 3.16% in the Canary Islands, while in the national market it rose by 0.43%.

In total, as Ancove pointed out in a statement, 5,617 units were transferred in the archipelago in the month of January.

Las Palmas, with sales of 3,003 passenger cars and a decrease of 0.70%, was the province with the best performance compared to the same month of 2021, while in Santa Cruz de Tenerife a decrease of 7.24% was registered and 2,614 units transferred.

Last January, 127,152 second-hand cars were sold in Spain, a slight increase of 0.43% compared to the same month of 2021 when transfers already suffered a collapse of 26.5%. Which is lower than 2017 figures.

The “bad start to the year” has led Ancove to “rethink” the forecasts that it considered at the end of last year.

Thus, it considers that if the rates set in the first month of the year are maintained, sales will remain around 2% below those of 2021 and will once again fall below two million, at 1.95 million passenger cars. occasion in the year.

“January leaves a worrying panorama, since sales barely rise half a point compared to the same month of 2021, which was placed at minimum figures. If transfers do not pick up in the coming months, it is very possible that this year fewer second-hand cars will be sold than last year”, declares Elías Iglesias, president of Ancove.
