When asked when his passion for music began, he doesn’t know what to answer because he has always been singing since he was little and went to school.
Francisco Manuel Gordillo Seco is a native of Badajoz, Rivera del Fresno, a town of just over 3,000 inhabitants. Everyone there knows him as Kako, who chose the first syllables of his two surnames to complete his stage name: Kako Gorse.
As a teenager he began to sing at the Carnivals with the comparsas and from there he jumped into the world of orchestras, “in which you acquire many tables and musical knowledge”. In his case, he never studied music so everything he learned “was on stage.”
The first time he worked in one he was 17 years old. “They called me overnight and I told them that she was underage.” That didn’t stop one of the great known bands from Extremadura, Inés, from calling her mother to ask for permission and the next day she was in Madrid, “without costumes, without music, without anything, on an adventure”. There she met a boy who had sung on the program Operación Triunfo. “I didn’t understand what I was doing with it when I was thinking about it a lot,” she confesses.
Gradually he lost his nerve and sang. It was the first time that she did it professionally, an experience that she will never forget. Neither does the name of the town: Miradores de la Sierra.
He toured almost all of Spain singing in orchestras and thanks to this he was able to pay for university studies.
The profession that Kako chose has nothing to do with music, although art was always present in her life and she never stopped singing. He is a psychopedagogue and social educator and his professional career was what brought him to Tenerife eight years ago because in his land no job offer arose. They called him to work in a school with children with disabilities and without thinking about it, he packed his bags and came. When his contract ended, he worked at the Mundo Nuevo Association and currently as an educator at Sumas, a foster family for minors, an entity that collaborates with the Government of the Canary Islands. From that moment, La Orotava became the municipality of his adoption.
On the Island, the musical doors were closed to him since he had to dedicate himself to his work but he discovered the Smule application, a musical social network in which he can sing with well-known artists and friends. He started uploading his performances and overnight he got close to 20,000 followers. One day she dared with Despacito, the song by Luis Fonzi.
“I love the talent of Kako Gorse, my friends from Spain definitely know how to sing,” wrote the Puerto Rican artist on his social profiles.
That was the moment when the doors opened again for Kako. The people knew him and the newspapers of his land published the news.
From that anecdote proposals arose and he began to participate in all the events that invited him, especially in charity galas, such as those organized by Cary Hernández Robles, a resident of the Villa who suffers from systemic sclerosis, a rare, rheumatic and autoimmune, for this disease to be investigated.
Last year he found out about the ‘Resuena Puerto’ contest, a project developed by the Clipia company to publicize the existence, work and talent of emerging artists and groups from the Orotava Valley.
More than 50 participants, including music groups and soloists, participated in the contest, sponsored by the area of culture of the City Council of Puerto de la Cruz. He didn’t hesitate for a minute to be one of them because he knew it was an opportunity. There would be eight winners and the prize consisted of recording a single with an unreleased song and a video clip.
He was not wrong. He turned out to be one of those chosen by the jury and the popular vote. She performed Mi lover amigo, a song by Rocío Jurado that she liked a lot, a “very nice” experience thanks to which she was able to compose and record that smile, her first song together with Iago Gallegos, producer of Clipia.
“It’s a moving song, more of a disco, modern and fun, that has nothing to do with my usual style, which tends to be more romantic, slow and deliberate, more of a piano, but I’m very happy with the result”, he describes. .
However, the most important thing for the artist from Extremadura has been being able to do it with professionals. “I listened to them in everything they suggested, from the locations to the costumes,” he remarks.
The good streak did not end there. Before the end of the year, music producer Fernando Ortí Salvador, who has been composing the soundtrack for Cuéntame how it happened for more than ten years, proposed that he perform two musical themes of his authorship from the series’ 22nd season: My muse and If you have what to fall
He has no words to tell how he has lived it and everything he has learned since then. “I have been quite a while without anything coming out of it, just singing on social networks because I have never stopped doing it and last year everything came up. And I hope that this good streak continues and many more things appear because I have been passionate about music since I was very little and I am very happy singing”, he confesses.
Kako was given his first radio when he was eight years old and already influenced by his mother, he loved Víctor Manuel, of whom he had all the tapes and knew all his songs and his life. “I learned to sing from him and I’m still a fan of his,” he notes. Remember singing when you were eight years old. I only think of you. “The children played soccer and I pretended to be Víctor Manuel or to be participating in the program Lluvia de estrellas,” he says, laughing.

His learning and dedication to music was always self-taught. He never chose to study it because of the uncertain future he has. “I have always been a person who has thought about everything a lot and who has played it safe, since I was a teenager, although when one chooses a profession he does not know what it will bring. In music I did not see that model to follow that is always imposed, having your house, your family, earning a certain amount of money, and that in the end you cannot follow because we come face to face with reality”.
He would like to compose lyrics and have a producer by his side who tells him where to go, supports him and accompanies him, “a kind of godfather”. He has some songs composed by him, he needs to bring them to light “because I lack means”, she maintains.
Kako is 31 years old and has her whole life ahead of her to continue advancing in her musical career, slowly but surely. “Until now, all I’ve done has been masterclasses,” he jokes.
His biggest dream is to go in his car, down the highway and randomly have one of his songs come out on the radio. He knows that it is very difficult because there are many people who dedicate themselves to music, but it is not impossible.
