“The relatives of the young man MATEO MIGUEL HERNÁNDEZ PACHECO, who died last Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the age of 18, want to publicly express our most sincere gratitude for the innumerable and overwhelming expressions of condolence, support and affection that we have received. these days from all corners of the Islands and even from the rest of Spain; a true wave of solidarity that has overwhelmed us and that has helped us to face the immense pain due to the premature death of our dear son Mateo. the impossibility of doing it personally, we want through this note to convey our gratitude to all the people who in one way or another have shared our pain or have accompanied us in these moments of infinite sadness.

In a special way, we want to thank all the players, coaches and directors of the Dimurol Salesianos, a futsal team in which Mateo played and in which he was always very happy doing what he liked and was passionate about, for the affection shown. Likewise, we express our gratitude to the entire Salesian family of Colegio San Isidro; to the City Council of La Orotava; and to all the sports clubs and entities, both in Tenerife and the rest of the Archipelago and the Peninsula, who have expressed their condolences and have paid homage to Mateo these days for the camaraderie that always characterized him on and off the playing fields.

Our thanks also to all the media, which have spoken so lovingly about our son; to his innumerable friends inside and outside the educational centers, for the tributes he has dedicated to him; especially to the companions and teachers of the Institute of La Guancha and the Picanto group, with whom he had such a good time. Thanks to the friends who organized a surprise birthday for him that ended with a “pachanga”, how could it be otherwise; and his friends from Florida, with whom he played soccer in the summer.

Our gratitude also to all the fathers and mothers who have accompanied us along with their children or on their behalf, and to the acquaintances and anonymous people in general who have joined us in our pain and who have accompanied us in these difficult times.

In addition, we want to thank the colleagues from Correos who have expressed their regret; to the staff who treated our son at the Hospital Universitario de Canarias and to the Carrillo funeral home, for his great professionalism and delicacy in the most difficult moments, and to all the colleagues from the Health Service who knew and treated him.

Mateo’s kindness, youth and smile will always live in the memory of his family, his friends and all those who knew him because, without a doubt, he was a special person. Thank you very much to all, heart”.
