The spokesman for the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez, confirmed this week that the regional Executive will proceed to abolish the obligation to present the so-called COVID certificate in entertainment venues and restaurants and certain activities, and has advanced that it will request the extension to the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) so that the document can be requested voluntarily, in such a way that the establishments that do so will gain more capacity and schedule, according to a level lower than the epidemiological alert of the island.

He also announced the extension of closing hours in entertainment and hospitality venues – except on level four, which remain at 00:00. In this way, in the islands at level 1 the closure goes from 03:00 to 04:00, on level 2, from 02:00 to 03:00 and on level 3, from 01:00 to 02:00. At level 4 it will remain at 00.00.

Likewise, Pérez indicated that La Palma will drop from level 4 to 3 of epidemiological alert after the favorable evolution of its indicators, while the rest of the archipelago It remains the same; that is, with Tenerife and Gran Canaria at ‘brown traffic light’, and the rest at red (level 3). The change in Nice Islandto go into effect this midnight.

The spokesman for the regional Executive stressed that the health indicators are “better” this week, especially in terms of the accumulated incidence, hence a de-escalation can be carried out “in an orderly, coherent manner”, without disarming “suddenly” the set of restrictions. However, he specified that health pressure “continues to be especially worrying.”
