El Rosario buys a plot of land to expand the future medical center of La Esperanza

The City Council of El Rosario has bought a plot of 598 square meters located next to the site where it is planned that the Ministry of Health start building soon new clinic in La Esperanza. This is a project that was presented at the end of last year by the mayor, Escolástico Gil, and by the director of the Canarian Health Service (SCS), Conrado Dominguez. The plot has been acquired by the Consistory for 49,888 euros and will allow the expansion of the building, whose initial project was drawn up in 2016 in accordance with the needs that are defined in the Health Infrastructure Plan 2005-2010.

The expansion of the land intended for health use will make it possible to expand the future local clinic when necessary and, in addition, guarantees the viability to offer other benefits within primary care, as detailed from the Rosariero Consistory. Its mayor, Escolástico Gil (IR-Greens), explained that it was not only necessary to replace, in the short term, the Hope Medical Center due to its poor general condition, but they also set out to “plan the future with the aim of providing the municipality with an important space to increase the new dependencies destined to the growing care needs of the area”. The local councilor reached such a commitment during the act of presentation of the new office last November, where he communicated to the director of the SCS the intention to transfer another plot to dedicate it to sanitary use and, even, they visited the site of the land.

In La Sardinera street

The plot is located on Calle La Sardinera, right next to the site that will house the new medical center, which will be built on a plot of 650 square meters ceded by the City Council of El Rosario to Canary Islands Government. According to the drafted project, the budget for these works will be 1,667,000 euros and it is planned that it will be an action co-financed with European funds.

The new land guarantees the viability of new health services

From the City Council they expressed that this new property will also be made available to the Ministry so that the SCS has new land for the programming of the new Health Infrastructure Plan which will replace the 2005-2010 period. “We are very aware of the current needs of the upper area of El Rosario in terms of health, but we also work with sufficient foresight so that the new medical center, over the years, does not see itself confined and without the possibility of expanding to accommodate new services such as rehabilitation, 24-hour emergencies or specialties in mental health, “said the first mayor.

The current local clinic of Hope It occupies a municipally owned building with structural limitations where it is not possible to carry out an adequate remodeling or adaptation to improve its functional conditions or its portfolio of services. This last property will be the one to be replaced by the new office, thus responding to a historical demand of the citizens of the municipality and, especially, of the nucleus of La Esperanza.

According to the functional plan, the new facility, which will have a total area of 1,025 square meters, will have three floors connected with a stairway and a stretcher lift, as well as an Admission and Administrative Management area, adult care areas with six consultation rooms and a Pediatric area with two consultation rooms, all with waiting areas and their own toilets, an emergency care area with differentiated access from the rest and points of technical dependencies, support and use of personnel.
