SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 29 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Balsas de Tenerife (Balten), dependent on the Cabildo, has completed in one week the repair work on the pipeline of the reclaimed water transport network after the breakdown suffered at the height of the municipality of Güímar.
In a statement, the Island Corporation pointed out that on Monday the filling of the pipeline will begin and the service will begin to be restored. That same day it is expected that the water will reach the El Saltadero reservoir, in Granadilla de Abona.
For his part, the island president, Pedro Martín, who visited the works together with the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Javier Parrilla; and Balten’s manager, Ana Sánchez, valued “the effort and extremely high efficiency of Balten’s staff in this type of situation”, and highlighted the importance of the repair work “having been completed in just seven days, a week before planned”.
The 62-kilometer pipeline supplies directly to the Valle San Lorenzo (Arona) reservoir, which completes the reclaimed water storage system in the south of the island, together with the San Isidro and El Saltadero reservoirs.
This regenerated water pipe, which transports about 300 liters per second (1,080 cubic meters per hour) by gravity, was affected last Thursday by the action of the waves and by some works carried out by the city council on a track near the hydraulic installation .
Here, Martín highlighted the complexity of the works carried out, which were carried out under the urgent procedure. “The conduit is in an area of difficult access and the repair had to be carried out with heavy machinery,” he said.
