The adult murgas and the Autonomous Festival Organism have been summoned to next March 14 to make a final decision on the number of songs they will perform in the June contest, which, after yesterday’s meeting, is brought forward a week on the provisional dates that the City Council had announced.

“The children’s murgas have asked us to delay their contest until the last week of June, which was occupied by the Adult Murgas Contest, so that it does not coincide with the end of the course,” explained the Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, at the end of the meeting held yesterday at the Fairgrounds.

As for the date of March 14, “the murgas have told us that if rehearsals can be resumed on that date, they will most likely go to two songs, which will allow us to maintain the three phases and the final. In the event that the conditions are not met, then it will be necessary to assess whether they go to a single theme, opening the melon of the contest’s bases, “explained Cabello.

Fairgrounds

With regard to the negotiations for the Fairgrounds to host the Carnival galas and contests in June, the mayor of Fiestas advanced that, for the time being, “we need Gastrocanarias to move forward two weeks so that the schedule we have planned is fulfilled”.

“For now -he continued- we know that the fair can already be brought forward a week, but it remains to be seen if it can finally be two. In case we do not get that time, we will have to move our dates, delaying the beginning a week, and ending the Carnival the first weekend of July, and not the last of June, as we have planned, “said Cabello. In any case, the Councilor for Fiestas valued the dialogue and the effort that is being made from the fair institution to reach an agreement.
