Hail in Tacoronte: low temperatures continue in the Canary Islands

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated this Friday the yellow warning (risk) for rains on the islands of La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera, the result of a DANA (isolated depression at high levels) that has been affecting for several days northwest of the archipelago.

The mix between these precipitations and the low temperatures has caused copious hailstorms in places on the island such as Tacoronte, especially in the Los Naranjeros area, this morning.

The forecast estimates that today will be the day with the heaviest rains in a week marked by the arrival of an isolated depression at high levels (DANA, formerly known as cold drop), as Aemet experts have raised a yellow warning (risk ) in such a sense that it is limited to the islands of La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and the northeast of Tenerife, which in turn has motivated the local authorities to issue a pre-alert in this regard in relation to identical territories of the western province. It should be remembered that a pre-alert does not imply a communication to the population in the face of the need to take measures to protect themselves, but rather it is about informing the emergency services in order to be able to count on the bulk of them in the event that they are confirmed. worst expectations.
