The mayor of Tacoronte, José Daniel Díaz, accuses the opposition (with the exception of Ciudadanos, which approved the document) of “doing demagoguery” with the new organic regulation of the City Council and denies the accusations made on Monday by the spokesmen of the PP and CC, José Caro and Álvaro Dávila, respectively, and the three non-attached councilors Carlos Medina, Sandra Ramos and Candelaria Dorta.

The president details that the groups had the document eight days in advance and also knew that it was going to be taken to the Plenary because I advanced it in the session the previous month. He specifies that the plenary session was held on Thursday the 13th and according to the mayor, on January 5, the eve of Three Kings, the groups had the documentation and “so I can prove it with the electronic records of the Secretariat, which sends it with acknowledgment of receipt to through the electronic headquarters”, he insists.

Díaz considers that “the opposition was not comfortable with this text and did not do its job, since it did not present a single amendment. He did not even propose alternatives to intervention times, which is one of the points with which they say they do not agree. I am surprised that their councillors, who are paid to attend plenary sessions, have not done so and are now asking the neighbors to do so as if it were a citizen participation document when it is an internal regime document, which in little or nothing it directly affects the neighbors”, as confirmed by the secretary.

In this sense, he cites Carlos Medina, who acknowledged in plenary that he had not read the regulations. “What can you expect from public representatives who sit in plenary to discuss a document that they haven’t even bothered to read?” he asks, while adding that “it is a 72-page document that someone very slowly you can read and study in two hours”.

Regarding the creation of a commission, “how was it done to name a street”, as reproached by the opposition, José Daniel Díaz replies: “The names of the streets, according to the Regulation of Honors and Distinctions of the Tacoronte City Council, it requires that a commission be formed to make the proposal if it is a natural person, with which they are confusing and using demagoguery because they know that it is so. On the other hand, the debate for this type of document is understood to be in plenary.”
