SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The volcanic eruption of Cumbre Vieja in La Palma has already mobilized a total of 227 million in public resources, according to the latest report from the Government of the Canary Islands made public this Monday.
For now, 4,508 applications have been received in the single register of those affected and processing has begun for 4,086, 93.5%, of which 3,282 have already been signed (75.1%).
More than 102 million have already been earmarked for housing and accommodation, including 79.7 million from the Insurance Consortium to compensate for the loss of 530 homes, 9.8 million for the purchase of developments in Tazacorte, Fuencaliente and Los Llanos de Aridane; 7.1 million in modular homes or 2.4 million –at a rate of 60,000 euros per home– for 43 families due to loss of their habitual residence.
The report also shows that 58.5 million have been delivered in social emergency and employment support, among which 49.8 million stand out to hire 1,600 people through the extraordinary employment plan; 1.5 million for the municipalities and 7 million in donations collected by palm institutions.
In addition, companies, freelancers and productive sectors have received 31.1 million and another set of aid of various kinds is computed totaling 35.1 million, which includes 15 million for the Biosphere Reserve, 10 million for agricultural irrigation and 4 .7 million for the assembly of emergency desalination plants.
Precisely, this Monday there has been a caravan of protest cars in which more transparency is requested in the distribution of donations, that the delivery of homes be accelerated and that citizen participation in the reconstruction be increased.
