The president of the Popular Party, Pablo Casado, has congratulated Manuel Domínguez on his election as the new president of the PP in the Canary Islands and has been convinced that the PP is going to govern the Archipelago “very soon” because it is “a government party” and he knows how to manage “very well” at the municipal and council levels.
At the closing ceremony of the XV Regional Congress of the PP of the Canary Islands, Pablo Casado began his speech by thanking the outgoing president, Australia Navarro, for her “good decision” in management and for her generosity with the Popular Party, and wished to have her on the National Executive Committee.
Regarding the new president of the PP of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, Pablo Casado stressed that he is a “great” mayor and a person “very committed” to rights and freedoms, and was convinced that he will govern “very soon”. ” the Archipelago, because the Canary Islands “need to have a great president” like him.
As a consequence of the crisis caused by covid-19, Casado said that the Canary Islands need to recover the tourism sector by lowering taxes and airport fees, maintaining transport discounts with the Peninsula, flexibility for prepayment of ICO credits, the expansion of ERTEs and applying a PERTE for national tourism.
With respect to La Palma, the popular leader stressed that it is necessary “once and for all” for the investments promised by the Government of Spain to arrive. “In short, fewer photos and more solutions,” he said.
Regarding irregular immigration, he called for more material and human resources and support for the local administrations of the Archipelago so that they can face the migratory wave with the solidarity of the rest of the country, because “The Canary Islands cannot be the Lampedusa of Spain”.
In reference to employment, the president of the PP proposed a specific plan for the Canary Islands to be a pole to promote digital transformation and welcome thousands of people from other countries who want to telework from the Islands, and also for those people who want to reside in places like the Archipelago after his retirement.
Pablo Casado assured that if the PP manages to reach the Government of Spain, it will contribute to all of the above with “very ambitious” policies that return prosperity, economic growth and job creation to the Canary Islands. “From there we will comply with the Canary Islands, yes we will comply with La Palma”.
