SANTIAGO TEIDE FITUR 2022

Santiago del Teide is positioned as a benchmark within Smart Tourist Destinations thanks to its new promotional tool such as the “Interactive Virtual Viewpoint” that it presented and created great expectation during the celebration of FITUR 2022.

This tool, which has had the collaboration of the Government of the Canary Islands through its subsidy line aimed at the improvement, modernization and digitization of tourist destinations, allows the tourist or visitor to enjoy the innumerable tourist and heritage attractions available to Santiago del Teide, through the application of the use of ICT and which, in turn, will have an impact on a more enriching and immersive experience of the municipality, positioning it as a Smart Tourist Destination.

During the presentation of this new tourist tool that was developed at the stand of the Association of Tourist Municipalities of the Canary Islands, the Mayor, Emilio Navarro pointed out that “without a doubt, in Santiago del Teide we are lucky to have natural resources from the coast to the peaks of the municipality that have to be properly exploited and we have been doing so for a few years with the development of a series of products linked to Ecotourism, which have been consolidated and that in the end become experiences that tourists live When do you visit us; In fact, with the development of this type of tourism promotion projects, we have detected that 30% of our visitors come to Santiago del Teide to enjoy this type of experience, hence our intention to want to anticipate and provide them with the best tools to offer the best experiences in the destination”.

For her part, the Councilor for Tourism, Luz Goretti Gorrín, wanted to add that “we were very clear that the municipality is located at a strategic point within the island, and that is that we are surrounded by 5 Protected Natural Areas, but we wanted to take a step more and direct our efforts towards digitizing the destination; so much so that Santiago del Teide is present digitally at IFEMA, Madrid-Barajas Airport, Tenerife South and Tenerife North Airports, as well as the Atocha Station or the Méndez Álvarez Station, all through geobeacons strategically distributed at the different points ”.

This new intelligent tool that has been developed by the company Dielmo 3D is based on the “EcoTur” project and has been synchronized with the “Inventrip” platform -which the municipality already had-, turning it into a tool that provides greater accessibility to the knowledge of the tourist resources of Santiago del Teide -patrimonial, cultural, natural, etc.

Through the new Interactive Virtual Viewpoint, a leap has been taken in terms of the revaluation of the intangible heritage that the significant and attractive viewpoints that Santiago del Teide has, which is why a leap has been taken in terms of the way of promote the viewpoints through the use of digital tools, which facilitate the possibility of being able to enjoy them in a way never experienced before and which, in turn, allows you to obtain information about what you are seeing, from anywhere in the world and with any device.
