But in addition, we have managed to close an agreement in relation to the transfers that the Government of the Canary Islands has made to the councils and whose financing was not up to date”.
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife concluded by recalling that “we have reached a principle of agreement on certain matters of the Fdcan, which are yet to be discussed in the near future, and I believe that in general we have made very important progress in matters that had not been resolved for years between the Government of the Canary Islands and the island councils and which, fortunately, during these last six months have been a undeniable progress”.
«More social role»

“Besides – said Armas – I want to give this Fecai presidency a social character, I am concerned about social issues. It can’t be that we have dependence what we have. We have to coordinate all the Administrations, also the Cabildos and the municipalities, with the Government of the Canary Islands and the central Government and make a different proposal of how social issues are being addressed at this time”, for which, he concluded, his presidency will be It will focus on “three things: continue the work started and specify some of the measures; let us not forget La Palma, which is strengthened and taken into account in the agendas of the Fecai, the Government of the Canary Islands and the central Government; and give a social character to this new stage that begins here today in Fitur”.
In addition, the meeting addressed the report of the outgoing presidency regarding the activity carried out between July and December 2021, in which some important issues in the operation of the local island administration are discussed, such as the state of the financing of the island councils or the agreements related to the La Palma volcanic eruption. In this regard, Fecai agreed to grant urgent financial aid for 2021, for an amount of 10 million euros.
