CC-PNC of the Cabildo criticizes that the Sports budget is cut “14% in 2022” and requests that “the aid items for athletes, clubs and federations, as well as those for infrastructure, be increased.” The nationalist counselor Verónica Meseguer considers it “an error in a strategic area, not only an axis that promotes physical activity and healthy living habits among the population, but also generates employment.”
For Meseguer, the cut – from 24.6 to 21.2 million – is due to “the little interest of the PSOE and Ciudadanos in sports. In these two and a half years they have lived from the previous management and nothing new has been done.
Meseguer values: «His great project is the Insular Center for Water Sports, promoted by Carlos Alonso in the last mandate. They have been more concerned with closing the Cidemat and paralyzing the Insular Plan for Adapted Sports and Even Tenerife (PIDA) ».
