The area of Works, Infrastructure and Accessibility of the City Council of La Laguna has budgeted 1,156,156 euros for this year for the construction of a new roundabout in Taco, which will solve a mobility problem that exists in the area of the general highway La Cuesta- Taco. Specifically, as explained by the area, vehicles currently have no way of changing direction from the San José Obrero intersection to the roundabout with Madagascar street and Las Mantecas road, which causes an increase in traffic in the area. hospital and travel times, which will be resolved with this new action.
The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, stressed that “this is one of the main investments planned in our road infrastructure improvement program for this year, in which we want to continue advancing in road safety and accessibility, attending both to the demands neighbors as well as the technical criteria of the Works area, and with attention to all areas of the municipality”. “This is a very important action for the Taco neighborhood, where another series of actions are planned in the coming months to continue improving the road network in this area,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, the councilor responsible for the area, Josimar Hernández, explained that “the execution of this new roundabout will help decongest traffic on a very busy road, facilitate circulation and improve safety. These are the criteria that we want to follow from the Works and Infrastructure area when prioritizing our actions”. The project is currently in the commissioning phase of its writing to Gesplan.
It should be remembered that, in terms of road improvements, the City Council recently announced that it will invest 18 million over the next four years in a new road network resurfacing and improvement plan, through a road maintenance contract that the Works area will put out to tender in this course.
