SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Governing Council of the Cabildo de Tenerife has awarded the works for the superficial rehabilitation of the surface of Nelson Mandela Avenue, in the municipality of La Orotava, given that it presents important cracks, cracking of the surface, potholes and peeling.
The First Vice President and Minister of Highways, Enrique Arriaga, points out in a note that “the works have a budget of 381,120 euros and an execution period of three months, with them not only the surface layer of the pavement will be replaced, but also will improve the accessibility and safety of pedestrians with the conditioning of pedestrian crossings and the relocation of a bus stop”.
The Island Director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, explains that “the works contemplate other actions related to the improvement and conditioning of the existing drainage through the substitution of a transverse fence and the execution of two new ones, and the fitting out of new zebra crossings that will significantly improve the road safety of this important Orotavense avenue through which an average of 21,000 vehicles circulate daily”.
From the road area it is indicated that two types of actions will be carried out to restore the pavement.
On the one hand, in the screed areas, the existing layer and the bituminous mixture will be milled, and on the other, in the areas that show structural exhaustion, the pavement will be reconstructed in a broader layer.
